Billy Cote was the guitarist and songwriter for the band, Madder Rose from 1993 to 2000. They released four albums. He also released an album (Amateur Soul Surgery) and two 12 inch singles as The Jazz Cannon with vocalist Don Greene, and an album as The Piano Creeps (Future Blues), with Mary Lorson and Kathy Zeigler. In 2016, the UK label Polytechnic Youth released a 7 inch single containing two acoustic-electronic compositions by Cote, the first music to come out under his own name.
