He operated a dairy farm, then worked in real estate and construction. During World war II he was an Army Primary Flight Instructor and Flight Test Engineer. Thereafter he was an archeologist in Turkey, later lecturing on the topic. He wrote the London stage score for "The Princess Pocahontas", and authored "Pocahontas" and other children's books.
