Born in Oakland, California, Dru Down is the illegitimate son of funk legend Bootsy Collins. The music roots passed down as Dru began rapping in the late 1980s and released his first album, "Fools from the Streets", in 1993. Relativity, a Sony Music imprint, took notice, and released his second album in 1994, "Explicit Game".The lead single from the record, "Pimp of the Year" became a radio hit, peaking at #65 on the Billboard Hot 100.
