Ferdinand Heinrich Proboscht was born in Vienna, Austria in 1890 or 1891 (sources vary). Provost was in Sweden when a competition was held for a piece of music to be used in the film Intermezzo (1936). He won with his composition "Souvenir of Vienna" which was renamed "Intermezzo" to tie in with the film. When David O.
