Singer/songwriter Josie Cotton was born as Josie Jones in Dallas, Texas. She's the daughter of a prominent local family who made their fortune in cotton. Josie began her career singing with several local bands in Dallas' Deep Ellum neighborhood and moved to Los Angeles in the late 70s. Cotton recorded the New Wave rock single "Johnny Are You Queer?" for Bomp! Records in 1981.
