Paulo was born on 7 August 1980. He started his career in the mid 2000s as a resident music director for a theater company, where he completed 7 full-length original musicals. He later found a niche in TV when he scored one of the biggest Koreanovela shows, "Endless Love". Other film and TV projects followed including several awarded films from Cinemalaya, and Cinema One such as "Intoy Shokoy Ng Kalye Marino", "Mauban: Ang Resiko", and "First Ko Si Third".
